It’s that time of year when I get the urge to sit around with an eggnog watching holiday movies. My husband and I watch the same ones every year, so to make sure we’re not missing any good ones, I thought I’d share them with you as a handy guide and you can let me know if I’m missing any winners! It’s A Wonderful Life The classic and my second favorite movie of all time after The Philadelphia Story. The Family Stone Always liked this one, though the fact the guy starts with one sister and ends up with the other is a little creepy. Home for the Holidays That classic dysfunctional family during the holidays theme! Elf Will Ferrell could take a nap and he’d have me cracking up. Four Christmases Doesn’t get great reviews but I’ve always loved Vince Vaughn and I still get a kick out of it. Bad Santa Love it! Fits my sick sense of humor perfectly… Groundhog Day Doesn’t really count as a Christmas movie, but there is a lot of snow, so close enough. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Stupid, but I grew up in the 80s. A Christmas Story (1983) This is what is on the television 24/7 on Christmas day! Miracle on 34th Street Another classic, though I never liked it half as much as It’s a Wonderful Life! BOOKS ON SALE! (including one of mine!) Next, the only man she’s ever loved reappears as the lead detective to the case. Raina’s having trouble interpreting his signals–does he want to reignite their passion, or just stay close to his prime suspect? Gusty Lovers and Cadavers: A Chinese Cozy Mystery (A Raina Sun Mystery Book 2) Gusty winds…and a trail of destruction. Graduate student Raina Sun is in for a season of mayhem and murder. When she volunteered to take the new foreign exchange student shopping on the last weekend before Christmas, she ended up in a riot for the last hot toy of the season and an abandoned baby. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be a Good Samaritan. But calling the mysterious phone number in the diaper bag leads to more questions than answers. A strange man claims to be the child’s father, and his alleged mother turns up dead. The local police are more interested in keeping the town’s good name out of international news than considering if there’s foul play. I sit with a glass of wine starting at 8:00 pm on Christmas Eve, in front of the Christmas tree, and watch Ralph and his family. There is also the Polar Express. I have to admit though that I prefer the animated specials: Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, The Grinch, and there is an animated Christmas movie Mickey’s Christmas Carol. 0 likes Reply Dynah November 30, 2017 Scrooged with Bill Murray, National Lampoon’s Christmas with Chevy Chase, the original cartoons, frosty, Charlie Brown, etc….have a full list I watch every year.
