Finding places to send your humor writing is a bitch.  Here’s my little master list of possible markets. Most don’t pay, but whoever heard of a writer who EATS?! That’s just rumor spread by writers still able to walk around and not yet too weak to speak.

PLEASE comment below if you would like to add another market to the list! We have to stick together people. The world would be a boring place without us.

Oh my goodness, I love this list, and I wish I had found it before I did all the legwork to come up with almost the same list on my own. (Although this list is actually better than mine). Thank you!

This list is fantastic! Thank you for putting this all together. I have been pulling out my hair trying to figure out where to submit what after a long writing hiatus.

    Endless thanks!

Hey, I love this list! Do you have any notes on mags that publish cartoon humor, paid and unpaid? I publish lots in Funny Times but it is very hard to find other venues. Sadly books like Artists and Graphic Markets don’t have much useful stuff.

Unfortunately, virtue is not its own reward, but those of us who rightly or wrongly think we write funny thank you for this list.

    Hi Amy,

Great list. If you’re interested in adding another, I edit a humor website called The Reject Pile (rejectpile.com). Submission guidelines: rejectpile.com/submit

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you!

The Free-Range Non-fiction link actually turns out to be something called Vitua Design. This site/blog then trapped me and wouldn’t allow me to return to Amy Van Sant.

The Chaos publishes humor, and we pay ($25 per accepted piece). We’re a literary journal that publishes true stories about life events. We’re interested in essays that illustrate the chaos of life, but with a balance of humor and pathos.

    Hi, Amy!

I work at Women in Comedy Festival Daily and we’d love to be listed on your website. We’re looking for humor articles, original think pieces, personal essays, why your favorite television show is feminist, etc. We accept pitches for cartoons, videos, and articles. Creators can submit pitches and first draft articles to editor@wicf.com. Thanks!
