Hey Amy – you’re the perfect person to ask. I got a great bottle of Blueberry Vodka – I’m usually not one for the flavors, but it’s from Maine, and the bottle is pretty, and it does actually taste sooooo good. But what to DO with the blueberry vodka? I made a “white russian” style bevvie from it using 43 instead of kahluha which was mighty fine, but now I need something else. Ideas?

Ooh.. the white Russian move was clearly a good call.. obviously anything that has or mimics cream would be the first choice. I sometimes mix coffee creamer with water and add it to cocktails to get that effect without too many calories/fat. To avoid too many calories, I’ll mix multiple flavored liquors with soda water or just water (I’m not terribly particular about my carbonation). In that setting, complimentary alcohols might include creme de menthe, grand mariner, Van Gogh double espresso… A splash of lemonade and/or sprite would be good too. You could probably get away with it in cocoa or coffee too… just off the top of my head… Mix it with a little tuaca and you might have a blueberry muffin effect…

Amy, you forgot one thing. Dessert. Or a quick “snack” pick me up. This is the best….of course that’s if you like peppermint…..This is a good one for drinking buddies. It doesn’t REQUIRE another person, but it is helpful. Ingredients: Squirt bottle of Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup, Peppermint Schnapps, Canned Whipped Cream Instructions: Open Mouth. Have your companion squirt a nice base of Hershey’s Syrup in, then pour in a shot of Peppermint Schnapps, and top off with a nice dollop of whipped cream. Close mouth and swallow. Mmmmmmmm, tastes just like a Peppermint Pattie!!

I have done something very similar in coffee, but the direct squirt technique has me in awe! Though… I’m thinking that is going to be hard to hide from disapproving eyes…
