I was “accidentally” upgraded to first class once on a business trip (the only trips I take, sadly,) and was truly amazed at the difference. You aren’t kidding when you say it’s like a different world up there, if only for the leg room.

Anyway, I was next to this guy who was taking FULL advantage of the free cocktails and he started getting ultra chatty and quite annoying (almost driving me to drink myself.) He babbled the whole damn flight. Come to find out, he was the keynote speaker at the convention I was going to cover (as press) and just about crapped kittens when he saw me in the audience.

It was funny. I got him to write a free feature for the publication. Bribery is lovely in the friendly skies.

Excellent – though I’m thinking he didn’t see it as bribery, since Tools like that never realize they are Tools (hence the tool-dom.). I think he just had a soft spot for you because you listened to him, and the fact that he so “entertained you” (his perception) leads him to believe you are a person of intelligence and grace.
And maybe he thought he’d get laid. There’s always a bit of that in there too.

How ironic you sort of got a downgrade for your upgrade. Great post, it felt like I was right there with you and Mike enjoying my own cocktail 🙂

Unfortunately, you can not use plastic to pay your mortgage……nor your car payment. Damn those tricky points awarders.

I flew first class for my honeymoon. As soon as I sat down, a flight attendant had a mai tai in my hand. I don’t even know where it came from. When they brought me an ice cream sundae, I was ruined. I hate economy so much more now.

Oooooh.. that sounds like REAL first class – not $49 upgrade to business class. Excellent. But you’re only further ruining us for regular flight. Stop that!!

I am with your husband on this one. Flying First Class is worth every penny- even deserving of being capitalized in a sentence.
From this point forward I too declare the O Shea’s fly first class!! (my wife just rolled her eyes behind me didn’t she?)

I wanna board first and drink alot!
